The Covanese Government is committed to a fiscally and socially progressive policy platform, promoting the rights of workers, women, minorities and the environment as a matter of priority. Below is a summary of some of our key issues.
EnvironmentThe Covanese Government maintains a strong position towards its stewardship for the environment. Laws promoting the use of renewable energy, sustainable transport options, and accountability for companies that pollute are paramount on our agenda. Ensuring that natural spaces remain protected for the species that live there, and for the enjoyment of all is also of high priority.
HealthcareIn Covanellis, access to affordable, quality healthcare is considered a right. As such, the nation will feature a universal healthcare system, paid for through taxation. This will cover a variety of procedures and mental health treatments, including surgeries, general medications, mental health appointments and medication, and dental care.
Housing AffordabilitySimilarly to healthcare, access to affordable, quality housing is viewed as a right by the Government of Covanellis. As such, the nation will implement a number of policies aimed at ensuring housing remains affordable, including limits on the number of houses a person can own, how much rent can be charged and how much it can be increased by, the deductibility of realestate-related expenses for people who own more than 2 homes, and the ability of non-residents to own homes. This will ensure that young people and low-income earners are not locked out by others with more financial capacity than them.
EducationEducation is an essential means for breaking cycles of poverty and realising the full potential of citizens. As such, education in Covanellis from the kindergarten level through until the end of university will be universal and funded through taxation. Affirmative action measures for minority and disadvantaged groups will be included in all competitive education levels, to ensure equitable access to opportunity.

Women's RightsWomen's rights are underpinned by one of the key principles of Covanese ideology - equality. The Covanese Government believes that women are entitled to equal pay for equal work, including full pay when on maternity leave, equal representation in the workplace, safety when participating in society and protection from harassment and assault. Alongside this, the Covanese Government is a strong supporter of a woman's right to bodily autonomy, and their right to an abortion for any reason and at any stage of pregnancy.
Minority RightsMinority rights are important and protected within the Republic of Covanellis. Discrimination on the basis of race, nationality, religion, ethnicity, or language is prohibited, including in the workplace. Alongside this, the Covanese Government supports the creation of a separate and independent taskforce to monitor the behaviour and culture of the nation's policing agency to identify and root out elements of discriminatory culture and corruption before they can proliferate, and to prosecute as necessary.
LGBTQI+ RightsLGBTQI+ rights are an important issue for the Government of Covanellis. Members of the LGBTQI+ community deserve to live a life free from harassment, violence and abuse as much as any other person, and this is affirmed by the Covanese Government - discrimination on the basis of sexuality or gender is not permitted within Covanellis. In addition to this, the rights of transgender individuals are protected, with the Government recognising affirmation of gender on official documentation with no need for surgery, mandating gender neutral bathrooms, and including gander affirmation surgery as a procedure covered by the Republic's universal healthcare system.
WelfareThe Government of Covanellis believes in the existence of a robust welfare system for individuals who become unemployed, severely injured, are older citizens, have growing families, are escaping violence in their home, or who have been impacted by natural disasters. To ensure their protection, progressive and generous social welfare programmes will be implemented to ensure that no one falls between the cracks due to circumstances outside their control.
